Ghassan Nabhan is a researcher and novelist who views mystery as a reflection of concealed truth, particularly human self-concealment.
Rooted in scientific inquiry and logic, his philosophy is not mere ornamentation to his novels, but stems from his lack of interest in who committed the crime, shifting the question from “who committed the crime?” to “what is humankind?” Especially as people constantly mask their true nature, his fiction also explores how humankind constructs inner refuges to navigate crisis, isolation, and an uncertain world.
In novels such as أشباح برلين | Ashbāḥ Birlīn and جريمة في المخبأ السري | Crime in the Secret Hideout, Ghassan Nabhan treats hidden places, laboratories, and enclosed rooms as mirrors of the human psyche under threat.
He wrote Ashbāḥ Birlīn between 2017 and 2018. Published in 2019, the novel contains a specific scenario set in 2020 involving a biological agent/virus, widespread transmission, maps turning red, and large-scale disruption and isolation. The text also describes Europe as entering a condition not seen since 1939. His 2021 novel, Crime in the Secret Hideout, uncovers a secret organization performing esoteric rituals while using orphanages as benign public fronts.
Alongside his fiction, Ghassan Nabhan conducts research in logic and scientific inquiry. His novel Ashbāḥ Birlīn | أشباح برلين is permanently preserved at the U.S. Library of Congress.
